Rosy Cacao Coffee

This delicious coffee substitute made its first appearance in the Rose Herb Box, and quickly became a fan favorite.

This is the culmination of my efforts to create a delicious herbal coffee substitute. I have tried so many combinations and this one is by far my favorite. I think it’s the cacao nibs that set it apart, but it is backed up with burdock root, dandelion root, chicory root, cinnamon, rose petals, cardamom and fennel. I probably don’t need to tell you, this herbal combination is super supportive to the body, especially to the liver! Does it taste exactly like coffee? No. But is it a lovely rich drink to enjoy first thing in the morning? Most definitely! There is a little caffeine due to the cacao, but not much at all (15mg or less per serving, whereas a cup of coffee has about 95mg).

This works best in a french press, but it’s not required! To make: Pour 12 oz boiling water over 1 TBS of herbs. Cover and let steep for 5 mins. Strain, and add cream and sugar if desired (if that’s how you normally enjoy your coffee, then I highly recommend trying it that way!)

All Organic Ingredients: Cacao Nibs, Burdock Root, Dandelion Root, Rose Petals, Chicory Root, Cinnamon Chips, Fennel, Cardamom

My teas are all loose leaf, using only organic, locally grown, or ethically wildcrafted ingredients.
