Functional Bloodwork

Clarity, insight, and direction, without the guesswork.

If you’ve ever been told your bloodwork looks “normal,” yet still feel like something in your body is not quite right, this service is designed for you.

My Functional Bloodwork + Appointment Package is a one time, all inclusive offering designed to help you understand what your bloodwork is actually revealing about your physiology, metabolism, and overall health. Rather than simply reviewing whether markers fall within conventional reference ranges, we examine patterns across multiple markers to understand how your body is functioning beneath the surface.

This approach often reveals early shifts in metabolism, nutrient regulation, immune activity, and endocrine function long before more obvious symptoms or diagnoses appear.

The goal is simple: clarity about what your body is communicating and practical guidance on how to support it.

What This Service Includes

This package includes:

• A comprehensive panel of 70+ blood markers
• In depth functional analysis of your labs
• A 60 minute 1:1 consultation to review your results and discuss meaningful next steps

During our session we will explore:

• Patterns in mineral physiology and nutrient transport
• Blood sugar and metabolic regulation
• Immune signaling and inflammatory patterns
• Thyroid physiology and potential autoimmune activity
• Iron metabolism and oxygen transport
• Histamine and immune reactivity patterns
• Liver function and detoxification pathways
• Connective tissue and collagen related physiology

This is not a cookie cutter interpretation. Every marker in this panel was intentionally selected to provide meaningful insight into how the body regulates energy, nutrients, and immune signaling.

Why Functional Bloodwork Is So Valuable

Conventional bloodwork is often interpreted through the lens of diagnosing disease. Functional bloodwork takes a different approach. Rather than asking “Is something wrong?” we ask: "How well is the body regulating and adapting right now?"

Subtle shifts in blood chemistry can often reveal patterns related to:

• metabolic stress
• mineral imbalances
• immune activation
• nutrient deficiencies
• thyroid dysregulation
• inflammatory signaling

When interpreted through a functional and mineral physiology lens, blood chemistry becomes an incredibly powerful tool for understanding how the body's systems are communicating with each other.

In my practice, bloodwork is often paired with Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) because together they provide a much deeper picture of the body's terrain and regulatory patterns.

What Makes This Panel Different

Over the past several years I have carefully refined the bloodwork panel I use with clients so that it reflects the same terrain based, mineral physiology perspective that I teach and apply in practice.

The updated panel includes markers that allow us to better understand:

• Mineral transport and utilization
• Metabolic and blood sugar regulation
• Thyroid physiology and immune activity
• Histamine and immune signaling patterns
• Iron metabolism and oxygen transport
• Collagen production and connective tissue health

Rather than looking at isolated numbers, we interpret these markers together as patterns. This approach allows us to understand the underlying physiology that may be influencing energy levels, hormone balance, immune reactivity, and overall resilience.

Understanding Copper Physiology and Mineral Transport

One of the most meaningful aspects of the updated panel is a deeper look at copper physiology.

The panel includes:

• Ceruloplasmin
• Serum copper
• Red blood cell (RBC) copper

These markers allow us to see not only how much copper is present in the body, but how well it is being transported and utilized.

Copper plays a central role in many biological systems, including:

• iron metabolism and oxygen transport
• collagen formation and connective tissue integrity
• skin and hair pigmentation
• antioxidant defense systems
• immune signaling
• nervous system regulation

When copper metabolism is impaired, it can influence many aspects of physiology. For example, copper status can affect hair pigmentation, which is why early greying of the hair is sometimes connected to copper regulation. Copper is also essential for collagen production, which influences skin elasticity, connective tissue strength, and vascular integrity.

Because copper is required for proper iron transport, these markers also help us better understand patterns seen within the iron panel and ferritin levels.

Iron Metabolism and Oxygen Transport

This panel includes a full iron panel with ferritin, which allows us to examine how iron is being stored, transported, and utilized. Iron physiology is closely connected to copper and ceruloplasmin. When viewed together, these markers provide a much clearer picture of how the body is managing oxygen transport, red blood cell production, and iron recycling.

Looking at these markers together often reveals patterns that cannot be seen when iron or ferritin are evaluated in isolation.

Thyroid Physiology and Autoimmune Patterns

The panel includes a comprehensive evaluation of thyroid function, including:

• TSH
• Free T3

• Total T3
• Total T4
• T3 Uptake
• Thyroid antibodies (TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies)

This allows us to examine not only how the thyroid is producing hormones, but also whether there are early signs of immune activity within the thyroid gland.

In many cases, thyroid antibodies can become elevated years before a formal autoimmune thyroid diagnosis is made, which makes them an important marker for understanding early shifts in thyroid physiology.

Histamine, Immune Signaling, and Inflammation

Several markers within the panel provide valuable clues about histamine activity and immune signaling, including:

• eosinophils
• basophils
• inflammatory markers
• copper status

These markers can help us identify patterns that may be associated with:

• histamine intolerance
• allergic or inflammatory tendencies
• mast cell activation patterns
• chronic immune stress

For individuals experiencing symptoms related to histamine reactivity, sinus congestion, skin reactions, headaches, or digestive issues, these markers often provide helpful insight into the underlying physiology.

Metabolic Health and Blood Sugar Regulation

The panel also provides a detailed look at metabolic health and blood sugar regulation through markers including:

• fasting glucose
• fasting insulin
• hemoglobin A1c

Together, these markers allow us to assess:

• insulin signaling
• metabolic flexibility
• early shifts toward insulin resistance
• patterns related to energy regulation

The panel also includes a comprehensive lipid panel, which allows us to evaluate cholesterol patterns, triglycerides, lipoprotein balance, and cardiovascular risk patterns. When interpreted through a functional lens, lipid markers can offer insight into metabolic stress, thyroid physiology, inflammatory signaling, and overall energy metabolism.

Even subtle shifts in these markers can influence energy levels, hormone balance, appetite regulation, and long-term metabolic health.

Additional Markers That Provide Valuable Insight

The panel also includes markers that help us understand broader aspects of physiology, including:

• RBC magnesium for cellular magnesium status
• plasma zinc for immune and mineral balance
• vitamin A for immune regulation and epithelial health
• vitamin D for immune and endocrine support
• homocysteine for methylation and cardiovascular risk patterns
• uric acid for oxidative stress and metabolic signaling
• GGT and liver enzymes for liver health and detoxification capacity

Together, these markers provide a multi system look at physiology, allowing us to understand how the body is managing nutrients, energy, immune responses, and regulatory signaling.

After Our Session You Will Leave With

• A clear understanding of what your bloodwork is revealing

If You Already Have Recent Bloodwork

I am able to review bloodwork that has been completed through outside labs if it was performed within the past 3 months. However, it’s important to understand that the level of insight I can provide will depend on which specific markers were included in your labs. Many of the markers I rely on for functional interpretation, such as ceruloplasmin, RBC minerals, fasting insulin, and certain nutrient markers, are not commonly included in standard panels ordered through conventional care.

Because of this, outside bloodwork often provides a more limited view of physiology compared to the comprehensive panel I run with clients. That said, I’m still happy to review outside labs and help you understand the patterns that are visible within your results.

The cost for reviewing outside bloodwork is $350 and includes the same 60 minute consultation to discuss your labs and potential next steps.

You will still need to apply for this service. When completing the application, please mention that you already have recent bloodwork available and include a copy of your results if possible so I can review which markers are present.

Requirements

• There must be a LabCorp location within driving distance, as this is where the blood draw will take place.
• You must be fasted for at least 10 hours prior to the blood draw (water is allowed).
• For the most accurate results, it is best to discontinue supplements for 3 days prior to testing, wait at least 2 weeks after any acute illness, do not workout in the 24 hours prior to the appointment, and avoid alcohol for 7 days prior to the draw.
• This service is available for adults and children over the age of 6.
• I work with clients within the United States (excluding NY, NJ, and RI).
